Books Books Books

We all got a little summer bonus at work, and I spent it on books. And a collar. But mostly books. I can't wait to read them - or in some cases re-read them (I adopted some used copies of books I used to own but lost in one of my moves).

So I got the Adrian Tchaikovsky trilogy "Children of Time", Sarah Walters' "Tipping the Velvet" and "Fingersmith" (my two fave books of hers), Frank Herbert's "Stranger in a Strange Land", a few Drei Fragezeichen CDs, as well as a Russian dictionary and a book with Russian stories to help me with my studies. I couldn't resist the dictionary - it's from 1982 and it looks marvellous! I have a thing for old dictionaries and encyclopedias....

The collar is pink leather and looks to die for. Can't wait to wear it!

In writing news: my current gay romance is coming along nicely, the second part of my sci-fi saga is a bit on ice, and I was too busy the last two weeks to get back into my dystopian novel.

In knitting news: there are no news. I haven't knitted one single stitch in the last two weeks. I'm working on two smaller projects at the moment, but they will take awhile still, because I have so little time atm.

Note: I wrote this for the NYC Midnight short story contest a few years back. I didn't win the round, but I did get honourable mention, which made me so happy!
